LAST UPDATED — OCTOBER 2026
This page covers what happens when you sign up for the Grayline newsletter or otherwise interact with this site. Kept short and in plain language, on purpose — the same standard we hold everyone else to.
If you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address. That's it. We don't ask for your name, don't require an account, and don't track you individually across the site.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. One click, no login required, no "are you sure" runaround. Once you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from our list.
Newsletter delivery is handled by Buttondown, a third-party email service. Your email address is stored on their infrastructure for the purpose of sending you these updates, governed by their own privacy practices in addition to ours. We don't export, copy, or maintain a separate list beyond what Buttondown holds on our behalf.
This site does not use advertising trackers, and it does not run analytics that follow individual visitors. Like any website, it is served through a hosting provider (Cloudflare), which may log basic technical details, such as the page requested and the connecting IP address, to operate and secure the service. We do not use that information to identify you or to build a profile.
A NOTE ON EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIS SITE AND IN THE BOOK
The content on this site and in Grayline: Digital Security is provided for informational purposes only. It is not professional legal, financial, cybersecurity, or law enforcement advice, and it does not create any professional relationship between you and Grayline. Every recommendation should be weighed against your own situation and comfort level, and acted on at your own discretion. Some suggestions involve third-party services or tools; we are not responsible for those services' own practices, pricing, or availability, which may change after publication. If you're facing an active, urgent security or safety threat, contact the appropriate professional or authority directly rather than relying solely on this material.
If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We won't retroactively change how previously collected information is used without telling you.
